This company was formed in Medan with a capital of F. 500,000 for the pur pose of carrying on business as general import and export merchants and commission agents. It is entirely financed by Chinese capital, and its bankers are the Chartered Bank of India, Australia, and China, at Medan. The firm is repre- sented in London by William Duff & Son, Ltd., of 1 13 Cannon Street, E.C., while in New York the agents are Dodge and Seymour, Ltd., 193/196 West Street, and in Amsterdam Louis Hirsch, of 18-2 o £ The head of the busi- ness recently went to Europe to open up a number of new connections. The firm employs a large number of assistants and clerks, and has godowns and warehouses close to the railway station. The director is Oen Po Seng, and the manager Moy Lup Choon, an energetic, , farseeing Chinese. The firm’s telegraphic address is “Banlian,” and the codes used are A.B.C., 5th Edition, and Western Union.
Oen Po Seng was formerly manager of the firm of Chong Seng at Medan. Before taking up his present position Moy Lup Choon was manager of Chunghwa Shangyeh Maatschappij, a Chinese bank.
