The home office of this important enterprise of merchants, engineers, and contractors is in Amsterdam, while the head office for the East is at Semarang, Java, and there are large branches at Medan, and at Batavia, Sourabaya, Tegal, Jogjakarta, and Bandoeng (Java), Macassar, in Celebes, and in New York.

The Medan office was opened on January 1, 1915, on the Kesawan. Soon afterwards the branch bought a large piece of ground on the Paleisweg, with an area of about 14,000 square metres, on which large premises and extensive godowns will shortly be built. Office and godowns are now occupied temporarily. At present there are 20 Europeans and over 50 natives attached to the firm in Medan.

Ltd.; for Lips’s safes and locks; for the Magnolia Anti-friction Metal Company; the Paraffin
Paint Company, San Francisco; Priestman Bros., of Hull; the Pulsometer Engineering
Company; and de Vries Robbe & Co., Holland, for iron construction, etc.

The technical department is under the management of a civil engineer, and it has erected and installed several rubber, coffee, and tea factories, oil and rice mills. The house also imports tools for agriculture and workshops, … building and sanitary materials, all kinds of machinery, iron and hardware, paint, etc.
