Mr G. Lodder†
Former manager of the “Ajer Bersih” and Medan’s first alderman for Technical and Ground Affairs in Holland passed away. Today a message was received here in the Netherlands that Mr G. Lodder, commissioner of the NV Waterleiding Maatschappij “Ajer Beresih” passed away on the 12th of this year. . Mr. Lodder, who for many years had been the trustee of this Company in Medan, reached the age of 53 years. With Mr. G. Lodder has passed away a very capable and well-known Delian figure, who not only has done much fruitful work for the Company in whose service he worked here, but who has also served the interests of the Medan community in many other areas for a long time. managed to maintain a series of years. The now deceased came from Doelichem to Deli in 1908, with the original intention of entering the service of the Deli Spoorweg Maatschappij. On January 1, 1909, however, he accepted the position of manager of the Medansche Waterleiding, which had just been installed. As a result of the expansion of Medan and the rapid increase in water consumption, it proved necessary as early as 1916 to build a second main supply line, which was done entirely under the direction of Mr. Lodder. After the now deceased had acted as acting administrator in 1919, his definitive appointment as administrator of “Ajer Beresih” in Medan followed on April 1. In 1927 Mr. Lodder went to Holland on a business leave. As a result of which he remained in the Motherland for a year.After his recovery he returned to the Indies in 1928. The plans for the construction of the so-called third supply pipeline were then worked out here under his leadership.In 1929 Mr Lodder took office. as administrator to repatriate for good Immediately after he resigned the administrator position, he was appointed commissioner of his company, a position he now held until his death.
We have already written that Mr Lodder lier has also allowed the community to benefit from his talents in many other areas. He was a member of the City Council for several years. At the establishment of the aldermen’s institute, Messrs Lodder and de Waard were elected as the first aldermen of the Irish Municipality. In 1927 Mr. Odder was installed as such. He insulted the interests of the Technical and Ground Affairs. The choice turned out to be a very fortunate one, although Mr Lodder was only a modest alderman, he did a lot of hard work for the Municipality in that position. After the illness that had struck him during his trip to the zarene in 1927, he resigned as fat holder of the Municipality of Medan. Mr. Lodder is also director of the Delian Clay Industry and director of the Water Supply and Electricity Central in Brastagi. He was a Medan figure, whose memory has remained very vivid for many years after his departure from Deli, because by his great zeal and skill he has made a great commitment to the Medan community. A message has been received from the Netherlands that Mr G. Lodder passed away on 12 March.
Mr. Lodder, who is fifty-three years old, came to Deli in October 1908 from Doetinchem.
On January 1, 1909, he was appointed company manager of the then newly installed water pipeline.
When in 1916 the rapid increase in water consumption necessitated the construction of a second main supply line, this construction was done entirely under his direction.
In 1919 Mr Lodder became acting manager of the N.V. “Ajer Beresih” and in April 1920 his definitive appointment as such followed.
In 1927, during a business leave, in connection with new expansion plans, he had a serious period in Amsterdam. At the end of August 1928, however, Medan saw Mr. Lodder recovered, and under his leadership the plans for the third supply line could be worked out.
In August 1929 Mr. Lodder resigned as administrator, repatriated, and was appointed commissioner of the company in the Netherlands.
During his twenty years stay in Medan, therefore, Mr. Lodder worked with diligent zeal and great skill for the Water Supply Company “Ajer Beresih”, he also found time to devote himself to various other interests. De Sumatra post 16-03-1937
